MICHIGAN RECLASSIFIES LICENSE REQUIREMENTS FOR AUTOCYCLES

Good news for open-air autocycle fans—Michigan is the latest state to reclassify its operator licensing requirements for freaky, three-wheeled vehicles like the Polaris Slingshot. Drivers no longer need a motorcycle license to operate one, but most bikers will still make fun of you when you they roll up on you. Newbies in states like Michigan can ride autocycles with a valid state driver’s license, though getting a motorcycle endorsement wouldn’t hurt, and it would most likely increase your chances of survival out on the road. 4 PHOTOS Michigan law defines an autocycle as “an enclosed…

ASTON MARTIN DB11 VOLANTE PACKS TWIN-TURBO 4.0-LITER V-8

Aston Martin revealed the DB11 Volante today, and it’s more than just a DB11 coupe without the roof. The convertible receives a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 as the only engine option, leaving out the 5.2-liter V-12 that’s offered on the coupe version. The Aston Martin DB11 Volante makes 503 hp and 513 lb-ft of torque, producing the same hp but more torque than the coupe’s V-8. That’s a far cry from the V-12 coupe’s 600 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, but still nothing to sneeze at. The 4,134-pound convertible comes with a familiar eight-speed automatic transmission as well as…

YAMAHA TO DEBUT CONCEPT CAR AT TOKYO MOTOR SHOW

Yamaha Motor Co. is bringing a concept car to the Tokyo auto show later this month. The company best known for its motorcycles and powersports vehicles revealed few details other than that it will be an “automobile design concept,” but here’s hoping for a follow-up to 2015’s Sports Ride concept. The Sports Ride concept (pictured) was an ultralight two-seat sports car based around the iStream manufacturing process designed by Gordon Murray, the designer of the McLaren F1. That process features extensive use of carbon fiber and is said to dramatically lower the cost of…

MERCEDES-BENZ G500 4×4 SQUARED ENDS PRODUCTION

The utterly ridiculous Mercedes-Benz G500 4×42 had no business heading to market, but we’re glad it did. Mercedes-Benz announced that production on the model is coming to an end, and if you want one, you have until the end of the month to place an order. Prices start at 231,693 euros. Inspired by the public’s strong reactions to a similar concept vehicle, Mercedes-Benz introduced the G500 4×42 in December 2015. The model later came to the U.S. market in 2017. Not only is the vehicle more than 7 feet wide, it’s 7 feet, 9 inches tall and…

Suzuki SV650X to be unveiled at Tokyo Motor Show

Suzuki will unveil the new SV650X at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show – which takes place October 27 to November 5 – a year after the bike was first unveiled as the SV650 Rally concept. The original concept bike was based on the styling of 1970s tarmac rally cars and featured large front lights reminiscent of the spotlights used on rally cars for night racing. The original concept also featured a shotgun-style Yoshimura exhaust, clip-on handlebars, new side panels, and a metal grill on the headlight. The Rally concept was an original…

Moto Guzzi ready to show new engine concept

After the range was thinned by Euro4, Guzzi will show us new concept at EICMA Tightening emissions standards are not air-cooled engines’ best friends, so it came as no real surprise when the adventure touring Stelvio quietly bowed out of Moto Guzzi’s 2017 range. While the bike did have a following, it wasn’t exactly a sales storm (just 7000 units over its eight year run) and ultimately Guzzi said that the investment needed to bring the engine in line with Euro4 wasn’t worth it. The by-product of this is that the Guzzi…

Crouching Tiger, hidden engine

When Triumph opened their new visitors centre, they regaled us with stories of legendary victories at the TT and on the saltflats but there was a distinct gap. While they’ve had off-road bikes in their range for decades, and sent various intrepid adventurers off around the world, they’ve never competed in rallies. That is until very recently when they rather suddenly sent two of their test riders to the Panafrica Rally. Now a spyshot has emerged of a brand new and completely finished Tiger 800, we think they’ve got something…

KIA CADENZA

MODEL OVERVIEW The Cadenza is a semi-premium midsize sedan that fits above the Optima in size and price, but well below the big K900 in power and prestige. It’s a comfortable competitor for the Toyota Avalon, and a mechanical twin to the Hyundai Azera. History In 1993 there were four Kia dealerships in the U.S., and they were relegated to selling a miserable little sedan called the Sephia, or a less miserable and almost cool little SUV called the Sportage. A succession of not very excellent cars and SUVs followed, and without a good…
