Ever wanted your own rolling spy van? Ginter Senfeldas, a North Carolina resident, is selling a 1989 Dodge Ram 350 he purchased at a police auction. With a little more than 23,600 miles on it, this vehicle seems to be in decent condition for its age—just minor rust and dents, and no cracks in the windshield.
Senfeldas shows us his van in a video he uploaded to YouTube. The interior shows how this old police vehicle differs from your everyday Dodge Ram. It’s packed with video and audio recording equipment, TV monitors, extra 12-volt batteries, and a fire extinguisher just in case things get out of hand. There is even a toilet for those long stakeouts.
“We found out that there’s microphones as we took the side markers out of the van and there’s microphones hidden in headlights and taillights. That’s why there’s little holes everywhere,” he said in an interview with local news station WNCN.
The van also has leftover tapes and CDs from what he believes was a previous drug bust. Gizmodo has reached out to the FBI to confirm whether this is true. If it is, then there is a possibility the auction could come to an end.
But don’t let that stop you from trying to get a surveillance van of your own. The auctionends tonight around 7:00 pm Eastern. So far there have been a more than 35 bids and the price is up to $16,000 and rising.
