Jack Sears collection to be sold at Goodwood Revival

An incredible selection of cars belonging to the first winner of the inaugural British Saloon Car Championship, ‘Gentleman Jack’ Sears, is set to go under the hammer at Bonhams’ Goodwood Revival sale on 9 September.

One of the most versatile and talented British racers of the 1950s and 1960s, Sears became the first person to scoop the British Saloon Car Championship title in 1958, winning it again in 1963 at the wheel of a mighty seven-litre Ford Galaxie. The ex-John Willment Racing Team machine is one of the star lots of the auction and is expected to fetch as much as £220,000.

The eight-strong collection spans eight decades of motoring history, ranging from a 1938 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Limousine by Thrupp & Maberly, which has been in the Sears family since new, though to a 2001 Ford Mustang Bullitt.
